Glossary of Terms

Here is a clarification of some of the key words and terms that we use. We just want to avoid any confusion!

"ENTRANT" - A wedding supplier based in the England who has entered the Awards in one or more of the 27 categories in one of 8 georgraphical regions.

"VOTER" - A wedding client of an entrant who is eligible to vote for them in the Awards. (ie; they used the product or service of the entrant for their own wedding that took place in the previous year. Only eligible wedding clients may vote for the entrants they used for their weddings. One vote per couple.

"VOTE" - Each voter must complete the specific online voting form for the supplier they wish to vote for. Each voter marks the supplier they are voting for out of 10 in 7 different criteria. Voters may also leave extensive comments about the supplier they are voting for. All this info is used in the judging process. Votes count towards the judging process.

"NOMINATE" - A way of letting us know about great wedding suppliers who have not yet entered the Awards. Anyone can nominate any wedding supplier. Nominating or being nominated is not the same as voting or being voted for. Being nominated does not count towards the judging process. Being Nominated is not the same as Entering. Entering is not being Nominated. More on this HERE.

"NOMINEE" - A business that has been Nominated (see above).

"REGIONAL SHORTLIST" or "REGIONAL FINALIST" - These are the entrants who are selected to be Finalists in their category in their region. Regional shortlists are created using voter data and judging panel input. For further details see the judging process.

"REGIONAL WINNER" - The entrant selected by the judging panel to win their category in their region. Regional winners are announced and presented at our regional awards events. Regional Winners automatically become National Finalists.

"NATIONAL FINALIST" - All regional winners automatically become National Finalists.

"NATIONAL WINNER" - The entrant selected from the National Finalists (ie: all Regional Winners) by the judging panel to win the National Awards for their category. National winners are announced and presented live on stage at the national awards event.
